Thiruvananthapuram: Light rain is expected in five districts of Kerala today. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, and Kottayam districts are likely to receive light rainfall today.
However, no specific weather warnings have been issued for any district. As per the five-day rainfall forecast, light rain is likely in various districts over the coming days. Tomorrow (January 7, 2025), light rain is expected in the same five districts: Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, and Kottayam. On January 8, eight districts are forecast to receive light rain, including Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, and Thrissur.
On January 9, light rain is expected in Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, and Idukki, while on January 10, it is likely in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, and Idukki, according to the IMD.
The IMD has also stated that there are no restrictions on fishing along the Kerala-Karnataka-Lakshadweep coasts today (January 6, 2025). However, strong winds with speeds of 45 to 55 km/h, occasionally reaching up to 65 km/h, are likely over the Somali coast, the southwestern Arabian Sea’s western parts, southern Tamil Nadu, Kanyakumari coast, and the adjoining Gulf of Mannar regions.
