Major Clash Erupts at BJP Protest in Kannur, Demanding Arrest of PP Divya

A major clash erupted during a BJP protest march to the Kannur City Police Commissioner’s office, demanding the arrest of P.P. Divya, accused in the abetment to suicide case of Kannur ADM Naveen Babu. The police used water cannons to disperse the crowd.

Protesters, including women, attempted to overturn police barricades, leading to a physical standoff between the police and demonstrators for nearly half an hour.

The BJP’s demands included a judicial inquiry into ADM Naveen Babu’s death and the arrest of P.P. Divya. BJP leaders, led by State General Secretary Prakash Babu and District President N. Haridas, were arrested, prompting a sit-in protest led by National Committee member C. Raghunath in front of the police station, calling for their release.

The protest was inaugurated by BJP State Secretary Adv. K.P. Prakash Babu, with District President N. Haridas presiding. Leaders Vijayan Vattipram and M.R. Suresh also addressed the gathering.
