Sultanbathery: A huge forest fire broke out in the Karassery forest along the Mulankavu National Highway. The fire force, forest department and locals are trying to douse the fire. The fire has not yet spread to the residential area. The fire spread into the forest.
Although efforts are being made to bring the fire under control by the fire brigade and locals, there is concern that the fire is spreading to the interior of the forest.
There is less undergrowth here and mostly dry bamboo forests. This is the main cause of the fire. The Odapallam section where the fire broke out was on the way from Sultan Bathery to Muthanga. Although it is a residential area, the fire has not spread here.
