Rajasthan Congress treasurer Sitaram Agarwal joins BJP

Jaipur: In Rajasthan, Congress treasurer Sitaram Agarwal has joined the BJP. In the last assembly elections, he lost to the current Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari from the Vidyadharnagar constituency in Jaipur. Sitaram Agarwal was welcomed into the party by Diya Kumari and others.

Sitaram Aggarwal had resigned from all posts in the state Congress to join the BJP. He said he felt suffocated in the Congress and even his family was happy. He said that he will remain committed to the BJP and will work with dedication to strengthen the party.

Sitaram Aggarwal was an independent director of the Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation in the Ashok Gehlot government. Contested in 2018 and 23 in Vidyadharnagar but failed both times. In 2018, Congress dissident Vikram Singh Shekhawat got 22.31% of the votes, a setback for Agarwal.

BJP got 42.33% of the votes while Sitaram Agarwal got 28.5% of the votes. In the last election, Sitaram Agarwal’s defeat was by the largest majority of 71,368 votes in the state.
