Malappuram: Over 20,000 liters of spirit being illegally transported from Karnataka to Ernakulam was seized in a major operation. The confiscation was carried out by the Palakkad SP’s DANSAF squad in Tirurangadi.
The spirit was hidden in blue cans and concealed under tarpaulin and sacks of waste in a goods lorry. The truck driver and his assistant were taken into custody by the police.
The arrested individuals are identified as Moideen from Meenakshipuram, Tamil Nadu, and Anbazhagan from Pollachi. Moideen is reportedly a repeat offender with previous cases related to spirit smuggling, and police suspect he is the mastermind behind this operation. Investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of the smuggling network.
