Kerala State Women’s Commission Chairperson P. Sathidevi has voiced concerns over misleading messages being disseminated through television serials, emphasizing the need for censorship in the sector.
Sathidevi mentioned that a report suggesting a ban on mega-serials was submitted during 2017-18, but she had not reviewed it. She acknowledged the livelihood of numerous individuals dependent on the serial industry and affirmed that the issues faced by women in the field are under the Commission’s consideration.
Meanwhile, Sathidevi addressed the recent controversy surrounding room inspections involving Congress women leaders in Palakkad. She stated that the Commission has sought an inquiry report into the incident following a complaint from the Mahila Congress state president. However, she clarified that the women leaders present in the rooms had not filed any complaints themselves.
These remarks underline the Commission’s active stance on addressing women’s issues across various sectors, including media and politics.
