The high-stakes election campaigning for the Palakkad Assembly by-election, which spanned 27 days, will come to an end today with grand finales from the major contenders. The contest is between UDF candidate Rahul Mangkoottil, NDA candidate C. Krishnakumar, and LDF-supported independent candidate Dr. P. Sarin.
All three candidates will conduct roadshows starting this afternoon, culminating at the Palakkad Stadium vicinity. Meanwhile, the LDF has announced a march to the Collectorate today.
UDF Roadshow: Rahul Mangkoottil’s roadshow will begin at 2 PM from Olavakkode.
LDF Roadshow: Dr. P. Sarin’s rally will commence at 4 PM from the CPM District Committee office.
NDA Roadshow: C. Krishnakumar’s procession will start at Melamuri Junction.
District Collector Dr. S. Chitra, who is also the District Election Officer, emphasized strict adherence to the Model Code of Conduct. Over the final 48 hours of the campaign, silent campaigning is permitted, but public gatherings, rallies, or use of loudspeakers are strictly prohibited. Violations, including unlawful assemblies or organizing events, will be dealt with as per the election guidelines.
All eyes are now on the polling day, as Palakkad gears up for a closely watched electoral battle.
