Law student assault incident, DYFI leader Jaison Joseph expelled by college

Pathanamthitta: Mount Sion Law College, Pathanamthitta expelled DYFI leader Jaison Joseph for assaulting a law student. The incident related to the case took place two months ago. Jason is Perunad block secretary and CPM area committee member. The police did not initially register a case on the complaint that the accused assaulted the student. He was later arrested after a protest by the students.

Last December 22, the law student was beaten up in the college. The KSU and Youth Congress activists had organized protest programs including blockade of Aranmula police station to protest against the non-arrest of the accused. Jayson had approached the High Court for anticipatory bail in the non-bailable case.

There the petition was rejected. Then the Supreme Court rejected it. The remarkable thing is that he never went into hiding. The police are continuing to remain silent in the case of denial of anticipatory bail till the Supreme Court. Last day, the girl who was beaten up in KPCC’s Samaragni met the leaders and told her plight.
