Kannur Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Naveen Babu had sent his last message at 4:58 AM on the previous Tuesday. In that message, he shared the phone numbers of his wife and daughter with two officials from the Collectorate.
Meanwhile, the post-mortem report confirmed that Naveen Babu’s death was a suicide. No external injuries or marks were found on his body. However, the report did not specify the exact time of death. The post-mortem findings have been handed over to the police, but the family has not yet received a copy of the report.
It is reported that Naveen Babu had been under immense mental stress following allegations made against him by former District Panchayat President P.P. Divya during a farewell meeting. Colleagues have mentioned that this had greatly affected him.
Today marks one week since Naveen Babu’s death. The incident came to light early last Tuesday morning. Despite the case being registered under abetment to suicide, the police have not yet questioned P.P. Divya, who has been named as a suspect. The hearing for her anticipatory bail plea has been postponed to Thursday, delaying further action.
In a separate matter, high-ranking health department officials are expected to visit today to investigate whether there were any violations in the application process for a petrol pump filed by T.V. Prashant, who was employed at Pariyaram Government Medical College.
