The brutal murder of Sudhakaran and his mother, Lakshmi, by their neighbor Chenthamaara took place on January 27 in Pothundi Boyan Nagar. Following the incident, Thrissur Range DIG Harishankar confirmed that the charge sheet in the double murder case will be filed soon.
The police stated that the investigation was carried out meticulously and also included details from the 2019 murder case of Sudhakaran’s wife, Sajitha. A police meeting was convened to discuss further actions, and efforts are being made to submit the charge sheet within a month. However, it was also found that despite Chenthamaara violating bail conditions, no immediate action was taken against him, which is considered a lapse in policing. Further steps will be taken against the responsible officers after the current investigation is concluded.
Sudhakaran, who was traveling on a scooter, was first attacked by Chenthamaara with a wooden stick and then brutally hacked. After ensuring no one was around, he proceeded to attack Lakshmi, who had come out after hearing the commotion. Sudhakaran died on the spot, while Lakshmi succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.
In 2019, Chenthamaara had also murdered Sudhakaran’s wife, Sajitha. He believed that Sudhakaran and Sajitha were responsible for his wife leaving him, which led him to commit the crime.
