A copy of the postmortem report of Neyyattinkara Gopan has been released. The report states that the bruises found on the body were not the cause of death and that the liver and kidneys were damaged. The results of the chemical test should be received to know the exact cause of Gopan’s death.
The postmortem report states that all the external orifices of the body were in a state of decomposition. The report mainly mentions four bruises. The bruises mainly mentioned in the report are on the right side of the back of the head, just behind the right ear, on the right side of the face where it meets the forehead near the right ear, on the left side of the forehead where it meets the face, and on the bridge of the nose.
The body was in a state of decomposition and other external injuries could not be determined. There was no injury to the internal structures including the skeleton. The report also states that there was no damage to the skull. Samples have also been collected from various parts of the body for chemical testing. It was also found that gray dust particles collected from the place of burial had accumulated on the body. These have also been sent for histopathological examination.
The family’s secret burial of Gopan Swami’s body had sparked a major controversy. The police registered a case after neighbors questioned the claim that it was a samadhi. The tomb was later demolished. The family, who had renewed their claim that it was a samadhi despite the initial medical findings of natural death, had conducted the funeral rites in the name of Mahasamadhi.
