The Silver Line project, which the state government has been trumpeting, will not become a reality. Metroman E. Sreedharan has stated that the Center will not give permission for this project. With this, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who has been constantly making empty promises that the Silver Line will come, has received a heavy setback.
It is clear from E. Sreedharan’s words that the Silver Line will not come to Kerala, but the state government is interested in an alternative rail route to the K-Rail he proposed. If the state government informs the center that it has abandoned K-Rail, the new route will be approved. However, Kerala is not moving forward with such a move due to laziness. Efforts should be made to implement the semi-speed rail project proposal in the state. Sreedharan says that he will provide all support to the alternative project.
Meanwhile, the Silver Line project has witnessed violent protests among the people of Kerala, and the Chief Minister himself has repeatedly threatened the people by saying that the Silver Line has not been abandoned. The other day, when he went to Delhi for discussions, he told Nirmala Sitharaman that the Silver Line had also been discussed.
