Following the release of the HEMA Committee Report, which has sparked significant discussion regarding the omission of certain pages, Minister Saji Cheriyan addressed the issue in the Assembly. He clarified that the report was released with specific pages omitted in accordance with directives from the High Court.
Minister Saji Cheriyan emphasized that the decision to redact certain information was made to respect individual privacy, as determined by the Information Commission. Responding to MLA N. Shamsudheen’s query about why the report was withheld from 2019 until 2024, he stated that the HEMA Committee Report had been submitted to the Cultural Secretary, but there was a request not to share it with anyone due to the need to comply with Supreme Court guidelines.
He further explained that the Information Commission mandated that personal information should not be disclosed. Consequently, the report was released with specific pages omitted following the High Court’s directives, with no information being completely concealed. The final directive from the Information Commission was to refrain from providing personal details, which led to the adjustments made in the report.
