Kannur: A traveller van parked near a petrol pump close to Kottur Bridge in Sreekandapuram caught fire early in the morning, causing a major accident. The incident occurred around 4 AM, and the driver, who was sleeping inside the vehicle, narrowly escaped.
After completing a trip, the driver had been resting inside the van. Noticing the fire, nearby residents rushed to the spot and woke him up in time.
The traveller was completely destroyed in the fire. A major disaster was averted as no other vehicles were parked nearby. Firefighters from Thaliparamb arrived at the scene and extinguished the flames.
