Permission granted to hand over SFIO chargesheet to ED in the Monthly Payment case

Permission granted to hand over SFIO chargesheet to ED in the Monthly Payment case. The Ernakulam Additional Sessions Court granted the approval for handing over the chargesheet.

It was in the first week of this month that the SFIO (Serious Fraud Investigation Office) submitted a chargesheet naming Chief Minister’s daughter Veena Vijayan as an accused in the CMRL-Exalogic deal.

Along with Veena Vijayan, CMRL MD Sashidharan Kartha and CMRL Chief General Manager of Finance Suresh Kumar are also named as accused. The charges against them could lead to imprisonment of up to ten years. According to the SFIO report, Veena Vijayan allegedly received ₹2.7 crore without providing any services.

It also states that CMRL paid ₹182 crore to political leaders, and this amount was misrepresented in fake accounts and diverted. Kartha’s son-in-law Anand Panicker allegedly received ₹13 crore as commission. The SFIO found that a corporate firm was used to carry out this act of corruption.

The case, which began investigation in January 2024, has resulted in the submission of the chargesheet after 14 months.
