The Kerala High Court will today consider a petition seeking a CBI investigation into the death of former Kannur ADM Naveen Babu. The petition was filed by his wife, K. Manjusha. The state government and the CBI are expected to present their stance on the matter. The case diary will be handed over by the Kannur Town Police, and the Special Investigation Team (SIT) currently probing the case will submit a progress report. The petition will be reviewed by a single bench led by Justice Kauser Edappagath.
Meanwhile, the state government has opposed a CBI investigation, asserting that the ongoing police inquiry is thorough and without shortcomings. In an affidavit submitted to the High Court, the government emphasized that the investigation is being conducted with complete fairness to ensure justice for Naveen Babu’s family. Therefore, the government contends that there is no need for an investigation by another agency. The Director General of Police has also informed the High Court that the investigation will consider the possibility of murder, keeping the interests of the family in focus.
