Police Deny Responsibility for VIP Darshan Provided to Actor Dileep, Blame Devaswom Guards

Kochi: The Sabarimala Special Police Officer has submitted a report to the High Court stating that they were not responsible for providing special darshan privileges to actor Dileep at the Sabarimala temple. According to the report, the police did not extend any assistance to Dileep. It was the Devaswom guards who facilitated his access to the front row for darshan.

The Vigilance Department is investigating the matter. The report also assured that measures would be taken to prevent such incidents from recurring in the future.

The High Court bench dealing with Devaswom matters criticized the authorities after CCTV footage from the sopanam (sacred steps) area was presented by the Chief Police Coordinator. The court questioned how long Dileep remained at the sopanam during the *Harivarasanam* recital, pointing out that this obstructed other devotees from moving forward.

The case is set to be considered again by the High Court today. Earlier, the court had questioned why the actor was escorted by police officers and given special privileges, prompting the police to submit their report denying involvement.
