Possibility of Sea Erosion; Warning Issued for Kanyakumari Coast

Thiruvananthapuram: The National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) has issued a warning for possible sea erosion along the Kanyakumari coast on February 23, 2025. High waves ranging between 0.9 to 1.0 meters are expected between 2:30 PM and 11:30 PM. Fishermen and coastal residents have been urged to stay alert and take necessary precautions.

Advisory for Coastal Communities:

  • Avoid staying in high-risk areas—move to safer locations as per official instructions.
  • Refrain from venturing into the sea with small boats or fishing vessels during the warning period.
  • Avoid docking or launching boats as the turbulent waters may pose a risk.
  • Exercise caution in beach tourism and activities until the warning is lifted.
  • Secure fishing vessels properly in harbors and maintain a safe distance between them.
  • Strictly avoid beach visits and water-based recreational activities during this period.
  • Be extra cautious about coastal erosion and rising tides.

Authorities advise waiting for further updates from INCOIS before resuming normal activities along the coast.
