President Ram Nath Kovind to host Indian Olympics Contingent for ‘High Tea’ on Saturday

President Ram Nath Kovind will host the Indian Olympics contingent over a ‘High Tea’ on August 14 at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre. “The President of India will host the Indian Contingent of the Tokyo Olympics 2020 over a High Tea’ on August 14, 2021 at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre, said the statement issued by the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

India put up its best ever performance in the recently-concluded Olympics in Tokyo, winning seven medals, including a gold. A day later, the Indian contingent will attend the Independence Day celebrations at Red Fort, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet and interact with the athletes. Neeraj Chopra, won Gold in the javelin with a personal-best throw of 87.58 meters. His gold was India’s seventh medal in Tokyo, its best-ever Olympic showing and surpassing the six it won in London in 2012. Apart from Chopra’s gold, India won two silver medals and four bronze medals at the Tokyo Olympics. The silver medals won by weightlifter Mirabai Chanu and wrestler Ravi Kumar Dahiya and the bronze medals by shuttler PV Sindhu, the men’s hockey team, boxer Lovlina Borgohain and wrestler Bajrang Punia.
