Prominent Industrialist and BPL Founder TPG Nambiar Passes Away

Bengaluru: TPG Nambiar, a prominent industrialist and founder of BPL, passed away this morning at his residence on Avenue Road in Bengaluru.

He is the father-in-law of former Union Minister and BJP leader Rajeev Chandrasekhar. BPL was once a dominant brand in Indian consumer electronics. In 1963, he founded British Physical Laboratories India Private Limited.

Initially, the company began with the manufacturing of precision panel meters for the defense forces. Later, it ventured into producing high-quality electronic equipment. By the 1990s, BPL had grown into a major player in India’s electronics manufacturing sector and became a notable name in telecommunications and mobile manufacturing in India.
