Kochi: ED has intensified the investigation in the case against opposition leader VD Satheesan. Enforcement Directorate Kochi unit is in charge of the investigation.
The statement of the complainant Jason Panikulangara was taken. Complainant has handed over more evidence in the case to ED. The ED investigation is related to violation of foreign exchange rules.
Flood relief in Paravur constituency VDSatheesan MLA was announced a plan. It was intended to provide housing in the area. There were also allegations that money was taken from abroad. Following this, a vigilance inquiry was conducted. Subsequently, the investigation was taken up by the government. At this stage, the ED has also started a preliminary investigation in this regard. Investigation is on in this regard.
The complaint is that money was collected illegally in the name of housing project. As part of the scheme, the ED is probing VD Satheesan’s foreign travel, money collection and use of money. Jayson has handed over the evidence he has to the ED.
The ED will also look into whether FEMA violated the rules by accepting money from abroad for the project. Vigilance had also filed a case on the basis of the complaint. On the basis of a vigilance FIR, the ED started a preliminary investigation in July last year.
