Thrissur: The mortal remains of the late singer P. Jayachandran will be laid to rest today. The funeral, with official honors, is scheduled for 3 PM. Hundreds of music lovers from the film, political, and cultural fields gathered at his home in Poonkunnam and at the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi Theatre to pay their final respects to P. Jayachandran.
The body was brought from Amala Medical College to his residence in Poonkunnam yesterday morning at around 8:30 AM. Sreekumaran Thampi, Gopi Sundar, ministers, and close friends gathered to bid farewell. Several prominent figures from political, social, and cultural spheres, along with countless admirers carrying memories of his melodies, came to pay their respects.
The body was brought back to his residence from the hall at Poonkunnam at around 1 PM, delayed by almost three-quarters of an hour from the planned schedule. Loved ones, including Ranjith Panicker, accompanied the remains. Mammootty also visited his home in Poonkunnam to offer their last respects.
