In a raid conducted at a rented house in Palakkad, authorities seized approximately 300 kilograms of banned tobacco products. The raid took place in the Ettathara – Anjamai area, where Rasheed was arrested by the Palakkad Circle Inspector and his team.

The raid involved Preventive Officer Sreejith, Preventive Officer (Grade) Basith, Civil Excise Officer Sadashivan, and Women Civil Excise Officer Renuka, as reported by the Excise Department.

Earlier, a similar operation led to the arrest of a youth in Kozhikode, where nearly 6,000 packets of banned tobacco products were seized. Based on a tip-off regarding the sale of tobacco products from a rented house on the Kunnamangalam Varattyack – Peringolam Road, the police conducted the operation. Over the past two years, Babu, a 37-year-old, has been involved in the distribution of narcotic substances in areas like Kunnamangalam, Narikkuni, and various parts of Kozhikode city, according to the police.

The accused had misled the building owner by claiming the house was for pottery work, and used it to sell banned tobacco products. There are already cases registered against him for selling such products in the Kakkur and Pothukad police station limits. The police have stated that the accused has been living a luxurious life funded by the sales of banned tobacco products.
