Thiruvananthapuram: The Revenue Department has taken action against officials from the Survey and Revenue Departments who illegally received welfare pensions. A total of 38 officials have been suspended.
The officials are required to repay the pension amount along with 18% interest, as per the Revenue Department’s order. Earlier, six individuals were suspended by the Soil Conservation Department, and the Public Administration Department also removed six individuals from service. In total, 1,458 employees were involved in the pension scam.
In the Wildlife Department, 74 individuals illegally received welfare pensions, of whom 70 were members of the Joint Council. The Ministry of Animal Husbandry is handled by a CPI minister. Most of those who illegally took pensions are widows, with government employees with disabilities also included in the list. Many of these individuals obtained jobs through the Employment Exchange and subsequently unlawfully received pensions.
