Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to visit India early next year following an invitation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The visit aims to enhance bilateral cooperation in key areas such as politics, economy, defense, and energy.
This would mark Putin’s first visit to India since the Russia-Ukraine conflict began in 2022. “Our leaders have an understanding to meet annually, and it is our turn now. We have received an invitation from Mr. Modi, and we will certainly consider it positively,” said Yuri Ushakov, a diplomatic aide to President Putin.
In October 2024, during the 16th BRICS Summit held in Kazan, Prime Minister Modi met President Putin and extended the invitation for the 23rd annual India-Russia Summit scheduled for next year.
The potential visit underscores efforts to strengthen strategic ties between the two nations amid evolving global dynamics.
