New Delhi – Agreement to export India’s spearhead Sukhoi fighter jets in the field of defense. During Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Russia, it was agreed that the two countries can work together for export production. Sukhoi SU-30MKI aircraft will be manufactured and exported under the Make in India project. India recently exported BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles to the Philippines.
The Sukhoi Su-30MKI is the best fighter aircraft currently in the Air Force’s hands. The Sukhoi fighter jets of the Air Force are being upgraded. The Air Force has 272 Sukhoi SU-30MKI aircraft. Of these, 50 were manufactured in Russia and 222 at HAL’s Nashik plant.
Only 40 of these aircraft are capable of carrying the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile. India and Russia have discussed resuming production of Sukhoi Su-30MKI in India and exporting it to other countries.
HAL will soon shut down the Sukhoi aircraft assembly line. It has been decided to continue the maintenance and other work of MiG series fighter jets and Sukhoi SU-30MKI at the division in Nashik. Over the past 20 years, HAL has leveraged the support of more than 2,000 small and medium enterprises to build the Sukhoi fighter jet.
The 12 Sukhoi aircraft to be received by the Air Force will be manufactured with the help of the most advanced technology. It will be built in India with the help of Russia. The new Sukhoi SU-30MKI aircraft will also have more indigenous equipment.
