Thiruvananthapuram: A new low pressure has formed in the Bay of Bengal. A new depression has formed over North Bay of Bengal in the centre. The Central Meteorological Department has warned that heavy rain will continue in the state for the next five days. A red alert has been announced in Wayanad and Kannur districts today (Thursday).
Chance of isolated heavy rain is predicted in these districts. Heavy rain refers to rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours.
A cyclone is located in the North East Arabian Sea. A low pressure trough is located from north Kerala coast to south Gujarat coast. Along with this, the warning also says that the west northwest wind continues to be strong along the Kerala coast. The Central Meteorological Department also informs that there is a possibility of heavy rain in isolated places today and tomorrow and heavy rain in the next 4 days.
Orange Alert
Thursday: Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kasaragod
Friday: Central Meteorological Department announced orange alert in Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts. Chance of heavy rain at isolated places is predicted. 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm of rain is forecast in 24 hours
Yellow alert
Thursday: Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha
Friday: Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram
Saturday: Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, Kasaragod
Sunday: Central Meteorological Department has announced yellow alert in Kannur and Kasaragod districts. Chance of isolated heavy rain is forecast. Heavy rain refers to rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours.
The Central Water Commission has declared yellow alert in five rivers of the state due to dangerous rise in water level. Yellow alert is in Manimalayat in Pathanamthitta, Thodupuzhayat in Idukki, Karuvannur and Gayatri rivers in Thrissur and Kuttyadi river in Kozhikode. The warning also says that people living on the coast should be careful.
