Former captain of the Pakistan cricket team and one of the best fast bowlers in the world, Wasim Akram has selected the list of five best batsmen. In this list, he has selected five best batsmen against whom he has played. Akram has placed Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar at number five in this list and has also given the reason behind it. Tendulkar is chosen as the best batsman of all time, all the big batting records in international cricket are named after Tendulkar.
Akram has placed former West Indies captain, Sir Vivian Richards, in this list first. Talking about Richards, Akram said, “If you talk about a batsman who was the most different thing and who has the most impact on this game, then he is Viv Richards. I have bowled all the batsmen from the mid-80s to 2000, but their class was different.
‘I didn’t bowl in Test against Tendulkar for 10 years’
Akram then said that I cannot talk too much about Sachin as I and my fast bowling partner Waqar Younis have not bowled much against him in Test cricket. Akram said, ‘I am keeping Tendulkar away from this list because we could not play 10 years of Test cricket against him. In Test cricket, I and Waqar could not bowl for 10 years against him. He came to Pakistan in 1989 when he was 16 and after that we played against him in 1998.
Akram said, ‘I have bowled against him in One Day International in Sharjah but Test cricket is different. There is no doubt that he is a great batsman, but as a bowler, I have not bowled against him when I was at my peak and so it is difficult for me to judge him. He then named former New Zealand captain Martin Crowe, who is at number two. Akram said that Crowe’s technique was excellent and that is why he is second in this list. Akram then named former West Indies captain Brian Lara at number three. Akram said that Lara found it difficult to bowl. His bat used to come from any direction and it was difficult for the bowler to bowl to him. Akram chose his fellow cricketer Inzamam-ul-Haq at number four and placed Sachin at number five in this list.
