Mumbai: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has strongly condemned Congress spokesperson Dr. Shama Mohamed’s remarks criticizing Indian captain Rohit Sharma’s fitness. BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia called the statement “extremely unfortunate,” especially ahead of India’s crucial match against Australia.
“A person holding a responsible position making such an immature statement is deeply unfortunate. And that too, right before India faces Australia in the Champions Trophy semifinal. This is a time to support the team, not criticize its captain. Therefore, this is completely unacceptable,” Saikia stated.
He further emphasized that the Congress spokesperson’s remarks were highly disrespectful and baseless. “At this moment, fans should unite in supporting Team India,” he told news agency ANI.
