New Delhi: The Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award and Arjuna Awards for outstanding achievements in the field of sports have been announced. Chess world champion D. Gukesh, Olympic medalist shooter Manu Bhaker, hockey player Harmanpreet Singh and para-athlete Praveen Kumar are the recipients of the Khel Ratna award.
Malayali badminton coach S. Muraleedharan has been awarded the Dronacharya Award for the best coach this year. The awards will be presented at a ceremony to be held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on January 17.
Jyothi Yaraji and Anu Rani are the athletes who won the Arjuna Award. Nitu and Soveeti won the Arjuna Award from the boxing ring.
Salima Thette, Abhishek, Sanjay, Jarmanpreet Singh and Sukhjeet Singh are the hockey players who have been awarded the Arjuna Award. Rakesh Kumar, Preeti, Jeevanji Deepti and Nitesh Kumar also got the Arjuna Award from the para sports category.
