Businessman Boby Chemmanur, who is in judicial custody following actress Honey Rose’s sexual assault complaint, is set to file a fresh bail application today. The move comes after the Ernakulam First Class Judicial Magistrate Court remanded him to 14 days in custody. Boby is expected to approach the higher court for bail as well.
Even if the new bail plea is submitted today, court holidays in the coming days mean Boby will remain in jail. Meanwhile, the police are preparing to file a custody plea to oppose his bail. If the bail application is considered by the court, the police are likely to demand Boby be taken into custody immediately.
Currently, Boby is held at Kakkanad District Jail. He was arrested by the Ernakulam Central Police following the actress’s complaint. The arrest was made on Wednesday, and he was presented before the court on Thursday. The Magistrate Court denied bail, citing the possibility of witness tampering and evidence destruction, as highlighted by the prosecution.
