Kochi: Greeshma, convicted in the Parassala Sharon murder case, will appeal against her death sentence in the High Court. The Neyyattinkara Additional Sessions Court had earlier sentenced Greeshma to death for her role in the crime. Reports suggest that Greeshma is expected to file the appeal either today or tomorrow.
The defense claims that the verdict was not based on merit but was influenced by public sentiment. They argue that the case does not qualify as one of the “rarest of rare” and that Greeshma’s age should be considered as a mitigating factor, which will be presented before the High Court.
In addition to the death penalty, Greeshma was fined ₹2 lakh by the court. Her uncle and the third accused, Nirmal Kumar, was sentenced to three years in prison and fined ₹50,000.
Sharon’s family broke down in tears upon hearing the verdict. They stood before the court with folded hands, overwhelmed by the judgment. The judge called Sharon’s parents and brother inside the courtroom to hear the sentencing, offering a poignant moment of closure for the grieving family.
