Swiggy, the online food delivery platform, has revised the wages of its workers in Thiruvananthapuram district. Under the new pay structure, workers will receive ₹6.50 per kilometer for the distance from the restaurant to the delivery point, and the minimum wage per delivery has been set at ₹25.
Additionally, workers will be paid ₹5 per kilometer for the distance from their standing location to the restaurant and ₹6 per kilometer for the return distance after completing a delivery. These revised wages will come into effect from March 10.
The decision was made following discussions held under the direction of the Labor Minister after the Joint Protest Committee of workers submitted a memorandum warning of an indefinite strike if their demands were not met. The meeting was chaired by Additional Labor Commissioner K.M. Sunil and was attended by CITU representative Sukarno, INTUC representative Prathapan, AITUC representative Sajilal, and Regional Director Rahat Khanna.
