The post-mortem of the four-year-old boy who died after a concrete pillar fell on him at the elephant camp in Konni, Pathanamthitta, has been completed. According to the preliminary report, the cause of death was injuries to the forehead and the back of the head.
The post-mortem report also states that the child suffered internal bleeding in the head. The injury to the back of the head occurred when the child fell to the ground. The concrete pillar fell on the child’s forehead, causing a deep wound above the forehead.
Meanwhile, the Ranni Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) will submit a report today regarding the child’s death. The report is to be submitted to the Chief Conservator of Forests, Southern Region, as per the directive of the Forest Minister. The preliminary assessment indicates a lapse in safety measures led to the child’s death.
However, no inspection has yet been conducted regarding the structural integrity of the concrete pillar. Forest Minister A.K. Saseendran had earlier stated that strict action would be taken against the officials responsible for the incident.
