Kozhikode: In addition to the police investigation, the education department will also investigate the death of a 10th grader during a student clash in Thamarassery. The Director of General Education has been tasked with conducting a detailed departmental investigation. Education Minister V Sivankutty said in a press release that the incident is very sad. He shares the grief of the family. The police are conducting a strong investigation in this regard. The minister informed that the Kozhikode Deputy Director of Education has investigated the matter and submitted a preliminary report.
The Child Rights Commission responded that it was a very serious incident and that a state-level study would be conducted on the tendency towards violence among children. A 16-year-old boy who was undergoing treatment at the intensive care unit of Kozhikode Medical College Hospital after being seriously injured in a clash between students died this morning. The deceased has been identified as Muhammad Shahabas, son of Iqbal of Palarorakunnu, Chungam, Thamarassery.
The students clashed on Thursday evening near the Tris Tuition Center on Vezhuppur Road in Thamarassery. The police have charged five 10th grade students of Thamarassery School studying at the tuition center with murder in connection with the incident. The parents have been directed to produce them before the Juvenile Justice Board.
