Doctors banned on social media, circular withdrawn

The health department has withdrawn the controversial circular banning health workers from social media. IMA and KGMO have raised a strong protest against the circular. Health workers, including doctors, are prohibited from posting on social media and starting channels.

In this regard, the director of the health department issued an order on 13th of this month. The ban was cited for violating the code of conduct for government employees. The order issued by the health department also states that earning income through YouTube is a violation of the code of conduct.

Later, IMA and KGMOA came forward with strong protest. Doctors’ organization KGMOA has warned that legal action will be taken if the circular is not withdrawn. The doctors’ association criticized the circular as an encroachment on rights.
