Six Years Rigorous Imprisonment and Rs. 25,000 Fine for SI Who Molested Student

Thiruvananthapuram: Sajeev Kumar (54), a native of Kolikot, who was dismissed as accused in the case of molesting a plus one student, was sentenced to six years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 25000. If the fine is not paid, he will be jailed for a further three months

It is also suggested to pay the fine amount to the child. The incident in the case takes place on November 26, 2019 at five o’clock in the evening. At the time of the incident, the defendant was the president of the residence association and the child was the president of the children’s club. The accused had called the child at home to get the list of children related to the work of the residence association.

The child went to the accused’s house thinking that the accused’s daughter would be there. Then the incident happened. While buying the list, the accused grabbed the child and sat him on his lap. The boy immediately clapped his hands and ran away from the house. The accused ran back and told him not to get involved in this incident. Scared of the incident, the boy did not tell anyone that day. The next day the girl told this information to the school teacher.

Then the teacher reported the incident to the police. At the time of the incident, the accused was a sub-inspector in the bomb detection squad. After the incident, the accused was dismissed from the service after a case was filed.

For the prosecution, Special Public Prosecutor Vijay Mohan RS, Adv. Akhilesh RY was present. The prosecution examined 20 witnesses and produced 23 documents, while the defense examined seven witnesses and produced four documents. Police officers Sanju Joseph, Saijunath and DS Suneesh Babu investigated the case.
