The Samajwadi Party suffers a major setback when its chief whip resigns ahead of the Rajya Sabha elections.

New Delhi. Dramatic political moves ahead of elections to the ten Rajya Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday. In a heavy blow to the SP, the party’s chief whip resigned in the assembly. Manoj Kumar Pandey, also an MLA from Unjahar, resigned.

The incident comes amid reports that some SP MLAs are defecting to the BJP. Eight MLAs also stayed away from the pre-election dinner hosted by Akhilesh Yadav. At the same time, Akhilesh Yadav came forward accusing BJP of putting MLAs under pressure.

Meanwhile, Akhilesh, who responded on Tuesday, is in a state of loss of confidence. Akhilesh says that the hope is that all the three candidates of the party will win and BJP will show any tricks to win the elections.
