Three voter ID cards per person in Kozhikode; Suspension of election officials

Kozhikode: Chief Electoral Officer Sanjay Kaul has directed to suspend the concerned election officials after three voter ID cards were found in Beypore.

The Chief Electoral Officer has directed the Kozhikode District Collector to suspend one registration officer and one booth level officer.

Chief Electoral Officer Sanjay Kaul has sought a report on the issuance of voter ID cards to one person with three different numbers in Beypore constituency. In Kozhikode Beypore Constituency, the Election Commission has allotted three different numbers of voter ID card to one person and included him in the voter list.

The Election Commission released the final voter list after a months-long process. But the commission has not been able to detect and correct the serious lapse just hours before the announcement of the election. The political parties, which were scrutinizing the voter list, did not budge. Three votes were allotted to one person in Beypore booth number twenty-four in Kozhikode parliamentary constituency.
