TP Chandrasekaran murder case, 20 years rigorous imprisonment for accused

Kochi:The nine accused found guilty in the TP Chandrasekaran murder case have been sentenced to life imprisonment without parole. The High Court clarified that there should be no remission or parole before the completion of 20 years. The High Court’s verdict was on pleas filed by the prosecution and TP Chandrasekar’s wife KK Rama seeking to increase the life sentence awarded by the trial court.

The court asked what was the reason for seeking the death penalty for the elderly accused. K.K. Krishna and Jyoti Babu have many health problems. Are the other accused not likely to repent? The Supreme Court has said that all these matters should be considered while passing judgment. The death penalty is given only in the rarest of rare cases. TP The High Court’s question came during the argument regarding increasing the punishment of the accused found guilty in the murder case.

In the TP Chandrasekaran murder case, one to eight accused M.C. Anoop, Kirmani Manoj, Kodi Suni, T.K. Rajish, Mohammad Shafi, Annan Sijith, K. Shinoj. The petition seeks to increase the sentence of KC Ramachandran and the 11th accused Trouser Manoj.

Justice A.K. A bench consisting of Jayasankaran Nambiar and Justice Kausar Edappagat is considering the petition. The trial court sentenced 11 accused to life imprisonment and one to three years rigorous imprisonment.
