Trial Begins in Dr. Vandana Das Murder Case; Accused Sandeep Appears in Court

Kollam: The trial in the murder case of Dr. Vandana Das, which shook Kerala, has begun. Today, the first witness was examined and the accused Sandeep was produced in person at the Kollam First Additional District and Sessions Court. Vandana’s father Mohandas said that the legal battle will continue until the accused gets the maximum punishment. The accused, who was taken for a medical examination by the police, took the life of Dr. Vandana Das on May 10, 2023.

The first witness is Dr. Muhammad Shibin, who was on duty with Vandana at the Kottarakkara Taluk Hospital that day. The first witness was examined on the first day of the trial in the case. The accused Sandeep was produced in person at the Kollam First Additional District and Sessions Court. The witness identified the accused. Muhammad Shibin also described the violence committed by Sandeep in the court. He also identified the weapon used to attack Vandana Das. Vandana’s father Mohandas also arrived in court today. Mohandas responded that he will fight until his daughter gets justice.

However, the defense is arguing that there are discrepancies between what the first accused said in court and what he said to the police. The prosecution’s response to this is that this is the defense’s usual method of subverting the case. In the case with 131 witnesses, 50 people will be examined in the first phase. The Kollam Rural District Crime Branch completed the investigation and submitted the charge sheet.
