Two arrested for depositing fake notes in CDM machine in capital

Thiruvananthapuram: Two persons who tried to deposit fake notes in the CDM machine in the capital have been arrested. Jayan and Bineesh, natives of Aryanadu, were arrested. The accused tried to deposit fake notes inside the Poovachal SBI CDM machine. The accused deposited 8 fake notes of Rs.500 in the CDM machine.

Jayan and Bineesh are behind the counterfeiting. The police suspect that the accused have committed similar fraud before this. It will be checked if more counterfeit notes have been printed and distributed. Yesterday, they deposited fake notes in Poovachal SBI’s CDM machine. The incident came to the notice of the bank officials and they found the account where the money was deposited and lodged a complaint with the Kattakkada police.

The police arrested the accused after checking the CCTV footage and account details. The fake notes were deposited in the account of the mother of one of the accused. Binish is the main one in making counterfeit notes. The police also said that the fake notes were made in the house of his cousin Jayant by preparing the equipment for making the notes.

Papers, computer, printer, scanner and ink used for making counterfeit notes have been seized from Jayant’s house. The police are investigating whether the accused have printed and distributed more notes and whether the notes have been exchanged elsewhere in the same way. The accused were produced in court yesterday and taken into custody.
