Two young women were arrested for trying to smuggle 32.79 kg of gold

Mumbai: Two foreign women were arrested for trying to smuggle gold through Mumbai airport. 32.79 kg of gold hidden in underwear and bag was seized. They tried to smuggle gold worth 19.15 crores into the market.

Earlier on June 7, customs officials seized more than 6 kg of gold worth Rs 3.91 crore at the Chennai airport. A Malayali, an Air India Express employee, was arrested for smuggling gold through Kannur airport in Kerala. Suhail, a native of Kannur Thillankeri, was arrested by the DRI. According to the DRI, Suhail is the main link in assigning air hostesses to gold.

Surabhi Kathun, an air hostess of Air India Express, who smuggled gold hidden in her body, was arrested earlier. On the journey from Muscat to Kannur, Surabhi, a native of Kolkata, smuggled around 1 kg of gold. DRI pointed out that this is the first case in the country where an airline crew has been caught for smuggling gold in this manner.
