Rajya Sabha MP’s Daughter Runs Over Man Sleeping on Chennai Pavement with BMW; Granted Bail

Chennai: A sleeping laborer met a tragic end when the BMW car driven by Rajya Sabha MP’s daughter hit the pavement. However, MP’s daughter got bail within hours. The incident is protesting. The accused in the case is the daughter of YSR Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Beda Mastan Rao.

The incident took place in Basant Nagar, Chennai on Monday night. The accident was caused by a luxury car driven by Madhuri, daughter of YSR Congress MP Beeda Mastan Rao. A 24-year-old painting worker named Surya, who was sleeping on the footpath, was hit by a car and died.

MP’s daughter was accompanied by another young woman who was her friend. MP’s daughter left the place as soon as the accident happened. There was an altercation between the woman who was a friend and those who arrived at the spot. The relatives of the deceased Surya reached Shastri Nagar police station and protested and the police reached the spot and started investigation.

Two women in the car then called an ambulance. Surya was then taken to the hospital but succumbed to his death. Eyewitnesses said that some of the people in the car ran away after the accident. The police said that the MP’s daughter and her friends were found to be in the car by using the number called for the ambulance. It was also found that the car was registered in Puducherry. Subsequently, Madhuri was arrested by the police on Tuesday and released on station bail.
