Uruguay’s legendary star Louis Suvaras has announced his retirement from international football. Suarez, 37, tearfully said Friday’s World Cup qualifier against Paraguay will be his last match in a Uruguay shirt. Suarez starts with the record of scoring the most goals (69) for Uruguay.
It’s been a while since I started thinking about retirement. I believe this is the right time. I want to play the last match with the national team in peace. I am going to play the last game with the same enthusiasm as when I was playing for the national team for the first time in 2007.
That 19-year-old is now a senior player, it doesn’t matter what you call it – I want to be remembered as a player who wrote history with the national team who gave his life for the national team, Suarez said.
