Venjaramoodu Murder; Accused Afan’s Lawyer withdrawing from case

Thiruvananthapuram: Advocate K. Uvais Khan has withdrawn from representing Afan, the accused in the Venjaramoodu case. Uvais Khan, who is also the Aryanad Block Congress President, faced objections for taking up the case, leading to a complaint being filed with the KPCC President, stating that it had caused embarrassment to the party.

Youth Congress Thiruvananthapuram Vice President Saithali submitted a request to prevent Uvais from appearing in court for the case. Meanwhile, early in the morning, Afan experienced dizziness and collapsed inside the police station restroom. The police stated that fluctuations in blood pressure caused the fall, and doctors confirmed that there were no serious health concerns. He was given first aid at the Kallara Primary Health Center before being brought back to Pangode Police Station.

Afan’s health concerns arose just before the planned evidence collection. The investigation team was set to visit multiple locations, including his grandmother’s house, a financial institution, and a shop.

Yesterday, Pangode Police took Afan into custody from Poojappura Central Jail for three days. During questioning, he reportedly stated that financial difficulties were a major reason for the incident. He mentioned seeking help multiple times and requesting valuables but was denied.
