Venjaramoodu Murder Case: Evidence Collection with Accused Afan Continues Today

The evidence collection in the murder case of Salma Beevi, linked to Venjaramoodu mass murder case accused Afan, will continue today. Since Afan’s custody period ends today, he will be presented before the Nedumangad Magistrate Court by noon.

As part of the investigation, authorities will take Afan to the financial institution where Salma Beevi’s gold chain was pledged and to the shop where he purchased the hammer used in the murder. Yesterday, he was taken to two crime scenes—the house in Pangode, where he killed his grandmother, and the house in Perumala, where he murdered his brother and female friend.

The evidence collection in Salma Beevi’s murder case was conducted under tight security by the Pangode police. The process began at 4:30 PM, led by the Attingal DYSP, with investigation officers from all three cases present. It first took place at the house in Pangode, where Afan had bludgeoned Salma Beevi to death. As news of his arrival spread, locals gathered at the scene. During the 10-minute-long process, Afan explained to the police how he committed the crime.

Following this, Afan was taken to the Perumala house, where he had attacked his mother, Shemina, and murdered his brother and female friend using the hammer. The evidence collection at this location lasted nearly 45 minutes. The police had already deployed officers in the area. Though locals and relatives gathered at both locations, there were no protests against the accused.

After the evidence collection, Afan was taken back to the Pangode police station. Earlier in the morning, he had collapsed at the station, but medical tests confirmed that he had no health issues, allowing the police to proceed with the investigation in the evening.
