Actor Mammootty supported India’s gold medal hopeful Vinesh Phogat, who failed the weight test in Olympic wrestling. Vinesh Phogat, who reached the finals in the 50 kg freestyle wrestling category, was found to be 100 grams overweight. With this, they were kicked out of the competition.

Vinesh Phogat has announced his retirement from wrestling amid growing support from various quarters. ‘Wrestling won, I lost. Everyone please forgive me. My dreams and courage are shattered. I have no strength anymore. I am saying goodbye to wrestling career from 2001 to 2024’ – Vinesh Phogat wrote on X.
