Vishnu Priya murder case; Accused Shyamjith is guilty

Kannur: The court found the accused guilty in the Kannur Panoor Vishnu Priya murder case. The verdict in the case will be given on Monday. The judgment belongs to the Thalassery Additional District Sessions Court. The case is that 22-year-old Vishnu Priya was murdered by her ex-friend Shyamjith, a native of Manantheri, after a love affair. The murder took place on October 22, 2022. The trial of the case started on September 23, 2023.

The post-mortem report stated that the main cause of death was a deep cut on Vishnu Priya’s neck. The neck was stiff. There are deep cuts on arms, legs and chest. The post-mortem report also stated that there was a severe blow on the back of the head with a hammer. Shyamjith, who had been holding a grudge since the breakup of his love affair, realized the time when there was no one at home and did the right thing by riding his bike. First, hit VishnuPriya on the head with a hammer. Then he would slit his throat and injure other parts.

The accused killer used a self-made double-edged knife. The murder was planned by searching on Google. The statement of Vishnupriya’s friend was crucial to arresting the accused in the incident. This statement comes while checking the CCTV footage and seeking information from the locals to catch the accused who escaped on a bike after the murder.

When Vishnu Priya was talking to her friend on WhatsApp video call, Vishnu Priya showed her friend in the video call that the killer entered the bedroom. Vishnupriya had said the accused’s name out loud to her friend. This is what the friend informed the police about. His picture was screen recorded by his friend. This was also given to the police.

Vishnupriya, who was in love, and her ex-boyfriend Shyamjit had a falling out in the meantime. Subsequently, Vishnupriya announced that she no longer wanted to continue this relationship. With this, Shyamjith had a strong grudge against the girl and this led to the murder. The police arrested him within an hour of the incident. Vishnupriya was a pharmacy employee at Panoor Nucleus Hospital.
