Kannur – Accused Shyamjit has been sentenced to life imprisonment in the case of murdering a girl named Vishnupriya, a native of Pannur. He has to serve 10 years in prison and pay a fine of two lakh rupees for trespassing. Additional Sessions Court (One) Judge AV Mridula found Shyamjit (25) guilty under sections 449 and 302 of the IPC at Mananteri Kalathil House.
The accused was sentenced to life imprisonment in the case of killing Vishnupriya (23) in the house of Vallaii Kannachankandi for rejecting his love proposal. Vishnupriya was killed on the morning of October 22, 2022. Circumstantial and scientific evidence is crucial in a non-eyewitness case.
Shyamjit studied B.Com with Vishnupriya’s sister. Acquaintance became friendship. Later, Vishnu Priya did not show closeness, which was the cause of resentment. On the morning of the incident, Vishnupriya was alone at home as her mother and sister had gone to a relative’s house nearby.
The case is that Vishnupriya, who was sitting on the bed talking on the phone with her friend, hit her on the head with a hammer and knocked her unconscious.
On the day of the incident, Vishnupriya’s friend of Malappuram, informed the Panur police station that Shyamjit reached Vishnupriya’s house while he was talking to him and the phone suddenly the call cut off. Later in the evening, the accused was arrested.
